Caro, who was 28, died on Nov. 17 after a working trip to Tokyo, People.com reports.
Her acting coach Daniele Dubreuil-Prevot, Caro's longtime teacher told People that while she didn’t know the exact cause of death, Caro had been ill for many years.
Caro allowed her 68-pound body to be photographed nude and at its most vulnerable by Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani in 2007. People were horrified by the sight of the model’s protruding bones, straining against her skin.
