Avoid makeup meltdown

First things first. You know you’ll be dancing like crazy on prom night. To avoid leaving half of your makeup on your slow-dance partner's shirt, remember these must-haves:

  • Oil-free everything. Because oil + sweat = runny makeup, girls. Ew!
  • Water-proof mascara and eyeliner
  • Water vaporizer, like Evian, which will refresh your makeup while cooling you off at the same time.

Now you have the secrets to keep your makeup from running and wearing off during the night, here are five fresh makeup looks choose from.

1. Luminous skin

To look fresh-faced and beautiful, it all starts with the skin.

First,  you can prep with a tinted moisturizer. It will make your skin look dewy, while helping you avoid that pancake batter look. Try the Sephora Collection Perfecting Tinted Moisturizer in Medium 28 Camel (1) or Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in Bisque (2), a new shade in between Nude and Sand.  Then for a radiant glow, dust your skin with mineral powder like Bare Escentuals Mini Mineral Veil Flow-Through Buffing Brush (3), which is pre-filled with mineral-infused powder, or Make Up Forever High Definition Powder (4). Either will give you a perfect luminous base look.

2. subtle pops of color

Fever-flushed cheeks and glistening lips, paired with your glowing skin, will make you look like an ethereal beauty. Try Tarte's Spring Greening Reusable Straw Palette (1) (available at Sephora), apply the peach shadow to the inner corners of the upper lids. Blend the green shadow into the center of the lid and outer corners up to the creases. Then, apply the golden shadow under the lash lines. Add Lash Hugger Natural Mascara (2) to the top lashes, then coat lower lashes with Bottoms Up - Lower Lash Mascara (3).

Give cheeks a pop of color with Tarte's Flush Cheek Stain (4) applied to the apples and blended well.
The trick to scoring fever-flushed cheeks without looking clownish is to apply the cream blush to apples of the cheeks first, then blend your foundation on top. Add some tawny gloss to lips using the sparkly, pink peach shade from the palette and you'll be naturally gorgeous and ready for prom!
