While getups made of the slick material aren’t exactly new (think: Madonna, Grace Jones, Lil' Kim), the trend returns this year with the current crop of copycat-happy entertainers, including Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Ke$ha and, most recently, Christina Aguilera, all wearing the gear (Shakira and Ciara are next, trust us). And, because originality isn’t really the point anymore, most of the ladies are even wearing the exact same designer: Atsuko Kudo, a couture latex- and fetish-clothing designer from Japan who won the European Fetish Award for Best Fetish Design in 2008 and 2009. (Yeah, it was our first time learning about that award, too.) Which diva pulls off the latex look the best?

In a leaked picture from her new video "Not Myself Tonight," mommy Aguilera gets freaky in a high-waisted latex skirt and bra, juxtaposed by oh-so-sweet Harajuku-like hair and makeup. The cover of the "Not Myself Tonight" single also features X-tina in a black latex bustier dress by Japanese designer Atsuko Kudo, a favorite of Lady Gaga.

Out of these four women, we have to give the advantage to Gaga for wearing the latex trend first, although, naturally, Madonna wore a full black-latex suit fifteen years prior in her "Human Nature" video. In any case, Gaga also pulled out the slick material, in the form of a red floor-length Atsuko Kudo gown, to meet Queen Elizabeth, and has worn Kudo’s leopard-patterned latex on tour.

For her American Idol performance of new expletive-laced single "Rock Star 101," Rihanna wore a bodysuit made of black latex and a little jacket with big, sparkly jutting shoulders.
