In a somewhat daring and edgy move, Nordstrom is bringing on some of Rodarte's fall 2010 line in their Collectors department this month. The notoriously shy sisters will be making a free public appearance at the downtown store from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, with informal modeling and light fare.

The Mulleavy sisters, both barely 30, are the favored couturieres of many celebrities and notable fashion icons, including Cate Blanchett, Natalie Portman, Tilda Swinton, Chloe Sevigny and Michelle Obama.

Most recently, Rodarte created the costumes for muse and faithful supporter Kirsten Dunst for her new film "Bastards," and in 2009 the duo based their Target collection on quirky (and surprisingly influential) tween fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson. (Gevinson, at 14, has such a following on her blog that she was invited to sit in the front row at many shows at New York Fashion Week, prompting an industry-wide discussion of the changing tide of fashion and journalism. Rodarte's Fall 2010 collection combines somewhat incongruous textures and shapes: fringed, floral and brightly patterned fabrics wrap around the body in dresses, sweaters and skirts, with a layered, flowing quality that brings to mind drifting through a dream.
