נגמרו חגיגות היומולדת, אז יאללה לעבודה... מי שמכיר אותי יודע שאני ממש לא בנאדם עצלן או בטלן (אם כי זה יכול להיות נחמד מדי פעם) אבל משום מה רוב הרעיונות המגניבים שעוברים לי בראש מדי יום לא מצליחים להגיע לידי ביצוע ונשארים אי שם במגירה בראש, עד הרעיון הבא... למרבה המזל היו לאחרונה כמה ימי חופש שאיפשרו לי לעבוד על כל מיני פרויקטים, ביניהם פרויקט 'עשה זאת בעצמך' המוצג כאן.
על אף שווריאציות שונות של פרחים בשיער לא נעלמו כלל וכלל (וספק אם תיעלמנה אי פעם) התחבבה עלי עוד דרך לקשט את הקודקוד, באמצעות מעטפת בד דמוית טורבן. חלק מקשירות הבדים על הראש נראות לי מסובכות משהו והעיטורים המוכנים קצת יקרים (תסלחו לי שאני לא מוכנה לשלם 18 דולר, עוד לפני משלוח לארץ, על אחד כזה מאורבן אאוטפיטרז) אז החלטתי ליצור בעצמי סרט לשיער, בניחוח טורבני קל, למתחילים. אם ימצא חן בעיני ובעיניכם, אפשר להשתכלל בהמשך.
Birthday celebrations are over, so... back to work! Those who know me in person know that I'm definitely not a lazy person, but most of the cool ideas that go through my head each and every day somehow just stay there, in a drawer inside my brain, till the next idea comes along. Fortunately there was a holidy here lately (=few days off) so I managed to work on some projects, including this DIY headwrap.
Although a lot of people decorate their hair with flowers (and I doubt it if they will ever stop doing that) I grew fond of another head decorating variation - the turban like headwrap. Some of those headwraps look pretty elaborate and the ready-made ones are a bit expensive (18 bucks for an Urban Outfitters one is a bit too much for me + I'd have to ship it to Israel which can double the cost) so I decided to make one myself, a headwrap with a light turban touch, for beginners. I figured if I Iike it a lot I can make something fancier later on.
And before I got my hands dirty, I did a few click trips round the web to get some inspiration and here's what I found:

והנה המתכון ליצירת סרט לשיער בסגנון טורבן:
החומרים הדרושים:
- שני 'צינורות' בד באורך כ-70 ס"מ (תלוי בגודל הראש) וברוחב 10 ס"מ (אפשר גם יותר בהתאם לעובי הרצוי). על הבד להיות אלסטי במידה מסוימת.
- מכונת תפירה או חוט ומחט.
- two fabric 'tubes' each in the length of about 70cm (please convert to inches by yourselves, I live in the metric system!) and each 10cm wide. the length and width can vary, depends on the size of your head (length) and how wide you want the headwrap (width). These measurements are for the one photographed on me. You should also choose an elastic kind of fabric.
- sewing machine or needle and thread
מאחר ואני חסרת סבלנות באופן מיוחד ופשוט הייתי חייבת
להכין לעצמי סרט כזה במהלך החג (וחנויות הבדים היו סגורות), לקחתי צעיף דק
ישן שהיה ברשותי ומזמן לא השתמשתי בו והחלטתי לעשות לו הסבה. זה גם חסך לי
את התפירה של חתיכות הבד לצינורות וגם מיחזור זה דבר מצוין.
Since I am very impatient and just had
to make this headwrap during the holiday (when fabric and other stores
were closed), I took an old skinny scarf I had and decided to convert
it into headwrap. It was a pretty good idea recycling wise and also
since it saved me all the sewing I had to do in order to make the
fabric tubes.
הצבתי את צינורות הבד בהצלב, כפי שניתן לראות כאן:

ואת השני שמאלה, וכך נוצר הדיטייל הבולט במרכז הסרט:

כל מה שנותר הוא לתפור יחדיו את שני הקצוות של אחת מרצועות הבד ואז להשחיל
את הרצועה השנייה אליה ולתפור את שני קצותיה. תחשבו על קישוטים לסוכה -
לולאות אשר נקשרות אחת לתוך השניה ובמקרה הזה בעצם שתי לולאות גדולות מבד
שנקשרות זו לזו.

Now
all you have to do is sew the two ends of one fabric tube, insert the
ends of the other tube into the loop formed, and sew them as well.
