Milan Menswear fashion Week for Fall/Winter 2010 was very good. Looking at it all together even made sense in defining a general archetype of our modern man.
He is soft but constructed, minimal but bold, nostalgic yet always
looking to march into the future with an eager stride. In a nutshell
that is what I got from Milan. Nothing was too femme but almost every
collection had a softness that would have at one time been exclusively
associated with womenswear…
Gianfracno Ferre, Burberry, Niel Barret and Versace tapped into the
bolder and more serious utilitarian man. We saw different
interpretations of shielding/armour in each of these collections.
As always Jil Sander is sleek, chic and progressive. Details such
hardware and pockets are emphasized by geometric shapes. A brilliant
reinterpretation of the suit.
