In staging this comeback, SEIKO is presenting a marriage between the mystique charm of black color and the profundity underlying simple lines and form of the watch.

“SEIKO Spirit” boasts design excellence guaranteed by a top award under Power Design Project, which is a design initiative instigated by SEIKO Japan. The contest encourages SEIKO designers to create watches and clocks without commercial restraints in order to bring about quality timepieces with ultimate power of design. “SEIKO Spirit” is a creation of Naoto Fukasawa, an internationally-renowned Japanese designer. His design of this watch is recognized in particular for the nature-inspired lines. The work is blessed with simplicity which gives its admirers a pleasant feel and impression of sheer nature, such as with the nicely curved glass and the hands and numerals in fine white lines that add perspective to the black dial. The dial is well-protected by sapphire glass and the case matches perfectly with the stainless steel band. In addition to the design finesse, the watch is noted for timekeeping precision given by quartz system.

This initiative proved to be very successful and has earned a status as the first national contest of its kind, and one that attracts established and up-and-coming designers alike.
