Use a shampoo that encourage sheen, without dragging the hair down.
Work in through lengths protective styling product and blow-dry hair
until almost dry.
Part hair in a deep side parting.
Blow-dry with a round brush and clip hair as shown below – you can use also a curling tong; hair just around the hairline should be rolled forwards.
  

Once hair cools, remove the clips and brush through with a paddle brush, brushing first backwards, then forwards. Don't be afraid to really brush the curls.

 Tease at the roots for more body. Gather hair at the nape of the neck and secure with an elastic and wrap around with a piece of hair and pin it with a bobby pin.

Finally, concentrate on smoothing through the ends of the pony to encourage a really smooth wave. Spritz with shine spray.
