About the Designer:Kristen Aronsson studied studied industrial design at Pratt, so form and function are her first concerns. The brand is deeply rooted in simplicity, ease and an understated yet strong sense of self expression. She always knew she would start a business of her own and fulfilled that dream by launching her handbag line in June 2005. Kristen hopes to keep building her business and reach her long-term goal to launch a line of shoes.

Who Carries a Kristen Aronsson Bag:

Kristen Aronsson talked with us about the brand identity and customer base of her line. Here's what she had to say:

"The woman who carries one of my designs is someone who follows the trends and appreciates the fast pace of the fashion world, but interprets and redefines each piece to create a statement all her own. She is not concerned with designer logos and heavy hardware, overdone details or following the leader. My customer is a design conscious free-thinker, she loves down-to-earth luxury that is practical enough for everyday."

What upcoming trends do you see in handbags?

In the next year I think (and hope!) the move will be away from the over-adorned, heavy-hardware, over-branded bags and toward a simplicity of shape, quality of materials and ease of function.

What three styles of handbags are essential in every woman's wardrobe?

1. The large city bag (like my Vessel style) that is oversized and able to fit everything plus yoga clothes, but is still chic and not over-powering.

2. The small shoulder bag (like my Dumpling style) that is smaller and lighter, better for summer when you don't want to carry too much.

3. The "going out" bag (like my Bauble) that tiny and fun, just fits the necessities for a night out and you can dance with it!

Are there any more style tips you can provide for our readers?

Keep it simple and don't try too hard and don't over-accessorize. Fashion is about personal expression, it needs to breathe and evolve naturally. Let yourself shine through!
