Giles
Giles Deacon is usually known for being forward, avant garde and whimsical all at once. While this season was no exception, there was also a mature sensibility to Giles’ work. Call it the recession effect, but what we are left with are beautiful and wearable clothes. Giles still kept the element of surprise we have come to know and love him for by sending down pacman-esque models chasing each other down the runway. I had the pleasure of seeing the clothes and accessories in the showroom and those pac-man helmets were heavy! The shoes by Louboutin were to die for…multi-strap platform stilettos which any woman would look divine wobbling around on!
Todd Lynn
Todd Lynn is a favourite among such rock stars as U2 and Courtney Love. Lynn never strays from rock and roll influences with a dash of goth, and glam goth being a prominent trend for AW08 and even a few of the SS09 shows, worked in Lynn’s favour. What we got for spring was more of Todd Lynn’s fabulous tailoring with edge. A love for rock and roll emulates in his clothes and the show always has an amazing soundtrack with Lynn sourcing new music not even released yet from his A-list clientele!
