Styled up: How to get ahead in the fashion world
So you want to work in fashion? Why wouldn’t you. It is
the hottest career around and we are a nation obsessed. When we’re not
shopping for clothes we are watching clothes on Project Catwalk, Mary
Queen of Shops, Gok Wan’s How To Look Good Naked, Ugly Betty, and those
original fashionistas Trinny & Susannah.
Last week's Graduate Fashion Week showed just how glamorous it all can be. A roll call of fashion's big hitters perched front row at Wednesday night's Gala awards ceremony to sip champagne and cheer on the design stars of the future.
Supermodels Claudia Schiffer, Agyness Deyn and Erin O'Connor; designers Julien Macdonald, Gareth Pugh and Henry Holland, plus a gaggle of girls-about-town led by Pixie Geldof, were all there to see Jessica Au, from Ravensbourne College, scoop the prestigious River Island Gold Award for her brightly printed menswear collection - and bag the massive £20,000 cheque.

Graduate Fashion Week's stars in attendance: (l-r) Agyness Deyn with designer Henry Holland; Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw with Pixie Geldof; Welsh designer Julien Macdonald with Claudia Schiffer
