The five-day Autumn/Winter fashion extravaganza, starting on March 29, will see models walk the ramp for 57 designers including Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Manish Malhotra and Narendra Kumar Ahmed.

Designer Wendell Rodricks, known for his uncomplicated outfits and a fetish for whites, will present his line at the Grand Finale on April 2.

More international buyers are expected at the Lakme Fashion Week this time with representatives from Coterie (New York), Browns (London), Pearson (Australia) and La Rinascente (Italy) coming for the event.

"The international presence shows that Indian designers are surely maintaining the global standards," Anil Chopra, vice-president of Lakme Unilever told Reuters on Tuesday. "India is slowly stamping its presence on the fashion map of the world."

Mumbai, home to the Bollywood industry, is also expected to outshine the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week in Delhi in terms of celebrity star power.

While Delhi saw a couple of A-list actresses like Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif walk the ramp, designers in Mumbai are hoping to rope in movie stars as models and front row guests.

"Bollywood presence is always nice as it creates more buzz and more hype," said designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed. "Moreover when you do a fashion week in Mumbai, who can imagine leaving them out?"

A wardrobe slip-up by a model in Delhi, which exposed her breast for a second, sent newspaper editors and TV producers into a feeding frenzy and designers at the Lakme Fashion Week said they hoped to avoid needless controversy.

"As always (we) will be extra cautious for sure but you know these things are accidents," said designer Pria Kataria Puri. "No designer wants negative publicity for his or her show."
