On campus they will be setting up booths to support their club and promote their trends.

"The clothing coming out this season will be full of color details, fabric details and trendy accessories to complete the outfit," said Fashion Club Vice President Hikari Kaneyama.

"We want to get as many designers and models as we can together to help out wherever they can at the booths. We want to advertise for the club as much as possible," Kaneyam said. "High fashion quality denim and light blouses are very in for the spring."

Colors are also coming back.

"Bright colors like gold and silver are really in along with the sailor style," said fashion student Victoria Vasquez. "Lots of the new Juicy Couture jewelry featuring anchors as pendants and nautical-themed bracelets and necklaces."

Vasquez also said dresses and long jackets will be big this spring, followed by a cropped jacket trend in the summer.

"The fashions for spring and summer are really high-quality along with dramatic hair and make-up," said fashion club member Ashley Gaughran, who recently participated in a lingerie fashion show called "Mystique Carnival." Pictures of this show and others can be seen on the fashion club Myspace page.

The Fashion Club will host a table on Earth Day (April 22), featuring its latest trends and giving helpful advice for the "fashion impaired."

They will be raising money for their club and recruiting new members for the spring semester.

March is Women's History Month and on March 11 the club had a booth featuring the history of "Jackie O," who was first lady of late president John F. Kennedy.

"It is said that her style really swept the nation and sparked trends across the United States," Vasquez said.

Escondido Fashion Week begins May 5 through May 10 and members of the Fashion Club will be entering their designs in the shows.

There will be a "Recycled" themed runway show on May 9 and several students plan to enter their pieces made of a wide variety of recycled products from Coke boxes to cat food bags.

The designs are due by April 15 and designers will have the opportunity to sell their pieces as well.

Anyone in the fashion program is able to enter his or her pieces in the various contests and runway shows throughout the remaining semester.

"The trends for this spring have been full of color and original design. When the events come together it is really exciting because we all get to see people's reactions to the clothing that we have designed," said club member Tania Diaz.

Fashion club students are also participating in the 2008 Fashion Symposium in Los Angeles. This show includes opportunities for fashion students, one being a denim deconstruction contest.

The club meets every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. in FCS-1 and Thursday at 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Fash-1. New members are welcome.
