Campbell calls for more models of colour

Naomi Campbell kicked off Berlin Fashion Week with a call to fashion designers to use more models from different ethnic backgrounds.

The supermodel said: "I hope that all the designers will consider using models of colour.

"Because as we have seen in the last two years, models of colour have not been used on the runways or just in a minute way. So let's hope that everyone could also let fashion not discriminate the models and the colour of the models that they use."

The Autumn/Winter 2008 collections began with a mixture of up-and-coming designers and big names such as Hugo Boss.

Monochromatic outfits, androgynous cuts and styles as well as metallic fabrics and subtle yet elegant hand bags for men were accompanied by techno music.

Highlights of the week include a collection by Zac Posen, a favourite amongst celebrities such as Natalie Portman and Diddy.
